Adopting a Potcake
Our puppy rescue center is always open and ready to process off-island and of course on-island, adoptions.
We always have pups available for adoption at our center, however, we cannot reserve a specific pup until an application has been approved. In fact at any one time there are about 40 puppies in foster homes across the island, all waiting for their forever families.
Each and every Potcake pup that we get through our doors is special to us, and every dog that we can place into a wonderful forever home is one less dying needlessly of neglect, abuse, disease or starvation or being euthanised.
The Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting a certain pup, or wish to be on our waiting list for the dog that is right for you, please fill out the adoption application form, email it to us and we will be in touch. We cannot reserve a particular puppy until an application has been received, reviewed and approved.
We carry out background checks and discuss living arrangements with all potential new parents so be ready for a few questions! Then we will discuss the departure process!

Bliss came to us off of a property with seventeen other pups. She loved people attention from the moment she was rescued and still loves it now. Bliss is a very strong willed pup, she's very smart but needs someone to work with those smarts to be the absolute best version of herself as she gets older. She is quite rambunctious when meeting other dogs for the first time but settles down with them quickly and enjoys their company. Like most potcakes, the quickest way to this beautiful girl's heart is through food. Bliss is a very affectionate pup, if you get her really excited she flashes you her potcake smile and you can see her gorgeous underbite. She likes to jump out of her pen to be right at your feet, she's just looking for someone who is ready to make her the center of their world.

Chopper came to us with sixteen other pups from someone's yard. Immediately we got to see what a wonderful little personality he had and he's only gotten better since being in our care. He is the perfect combination of mischief, gentleness and playfulness. He can go out on walks with anyone and they all come very happy. He is a walker and a cuddle bug, he enjoys the company of other dogs but he can be fine on his own provided he has the companionship of some very lovely people. Chopper is ready to fit right into someone's home and onto someone's lap. It really doesn't take much to make this lovely boy happy.

Phoebe came to us as part of a very big litter. Initially she was one of the quieter ones, always content to let her siblings get in ahead of her whether it was for food or toys. As her confidence has grown she has shown us what a bubbly personality she really has. She still doesn't feel the need to argue with her siblings over things when she gets pushed out of the way but she is first up on her back legs whenever anyone walks past her pen to say hi and get some pets. She is a bit timid about going out on her walks and prefers to take things a bit slower and have some cuddles. She is a friendly, laid back pup with lots of love to give. She loves her toys, her treats and her walks but more than any of that she loves to be with people. This lovely girl is more than ready for a home of her own.

Alfie came into our care when he was only four weeks old. He really struggled for a bit once his brother went to his new home but has since settled into his routine in facility and his personality has blossomed. He does love the company of another dog but he can be a bit obnoxious when he plays, he likes to jump all over the other dog and be right up in their face so if he goes to a home with another pup it needs to be one who won't mind that. He's very similar with people, incredibly energetic and playful. He can get a little overstimulated with large groups, especially with young kids, so we don't send him out for walks with groups with young kids. His mind is as active as his body, he is incredibly smart but he needs someone who will work with that. Alfie is a big personality packaged in a little body, when he builds a relationship with you he pours every ounce of love he has into you and he just needs someone to do the same.

Ari came to us as a single pup. When he was found originally he was skinny and practically furless. He has come such a long way since then and has really grown into a beautiful little dog. He has plenty of personality; he is energetic, inquisitve and very playful. We can send him out for walks with anyone and he will thrive. He has confidence to spare so once he was fully vaccinated he became a foster brother to another one of our pups that came in as a single; she was so nervous of everything but Ari's boisterous self-assuredness encouraged her to start coming out of her shell and allow her to finally start relaxing a bit. The start to Ari's life hadn't been an easy one but never once has anything slowed him down now all he is waiting for is a family to start his next adventure with.
MEEKA
MEEKA
AGE: 6 months

Meeka is a gentle soul, this little lady came to us as a single pup after getting separated from her pack when they being chased by other dogs. It became very clear very quickly that she was an incredibly nervous pup, whilst she wasn't reactive she would completely freeze up whenever she got too scared. Great strides were made with her in her foster home but she was still struggling, once she was fully vaccinated we decided to pair her with another one of our single pups to see if that would help. It made a world of difference immediately, we saw a playful side to her that we really hadn't seen before. She was so much more at ease whenever another dog was around and it showed us her curious side, her goofy side and her cuddly side. Meeka is a lovely girl, she is better suited to a quiter household with dog experienced people and at least one other dog (if not more)! She makes you work for her affection a little more than some of our pups but it is more than worth it.

Peaches and her brother came to us through a spay/neuter clinic. Peaches has always been the leader amongst her siblings, she plays hard and never seems to run out of energy. She can go on walks with anyone and have a good time. She's attentive to her surroundings and is always looking to see what is going on outside of the window. She loves her food, (meal times are when she gets most excited) and she will do just about anything for treats. She wants to say hi to people and be included in whatever is going on around her. Peaches is as boisterous as she is loving. She is ready to find a family who can give back that same love and fun to her.

Pickles and his sister were dropped off at a spay/neuter clinic and the clinic asked us to take them. Pickles is a gentle little man, he loves having a kiss and a cuddle. His sister Peaches likes to play a little rough sometimes but he can give as good as he gets so he can get a bit feisty at times however he tends to run out of energy quicker and loves his nap time. We can send him out on walks with anyone and they all come back so happy. He loves his food and his treats, he will eat whatever you put down in front of him (and whatever else he can find). Pickles is ready and waiting for a home of his very own.

We are dependent on donations to help rescue dogs from the street, give them the care they need and find forever homes. If you can, please make a donation today. We are always in need of volunteers to open up their homes to foster potcakes.
