Adopting a Potcake
Our puppy rescue center is always open and ready to process off-island and of course on-island, adoptions.
We always have pups available for adoption at our center, however, we cannot reserve a specific pup until an application has been approved. In fact at any one time there are about 40 puppies in foster homes across the island, all waiting for their forever families.
Each and every Potcake pup that we get through our doors is special to us, and every dog that we can place into a wonderful forever home is one less dying needlessly of neglect, abuse, disease or starvation or being euthanised.
The Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting a certain pup, or wish to be on our waiting list for the dog that is right for you, please fill out the adoption application form, email it to us and we will be in touch. We cannot reserve a particular puppy until an application has been received, reviewed and approved.
We carry out background checks and discuss living arrangements with all potential new parents so be ready for a few questions! Then we will discuss the departure process!

Squirt is the last of her litter still waiting for her furever home. She is an inquisitive and incredibly smart little lady. She is going to be on the smaller side for a potcake but even though she is small in stature she has a big personality, she’ll need some training just to keep her moving in the right direction but absolutely loves treats so will be easy to work with. She loves cuddle time but one of her favorite times of day is going out on her walks and searching for the perfect stick to chew on.

Qora came in as the most nervous pup of her litter and she still is quite shy and can be reactive initially when new people approach her. It takes her a bit of time to build her trust in you but once she does you get to see the funny, affectionate pup that she actually is. If you give her the time to build a bond with you it doesn't break. She loves to cuddle up on the couch and her exercise of choice is swimming! The hardest thing about her morning walks is getting her out of the ocean. She would thrive with a quieter household that has lot’s of dog experience. All this beautiful girl needs is loving people who will give her the time she needs to come out of her shell.

If you’re looking for your own version of Scooby Doo then Peanut is your boy! He’s a gorgeous, goofy, and playful pup who loves to eat and go on adventures! Peanut currently has 5 canine siblings so does well with other dogs once introduced. He walks well on leash and has good recall off. He loves to hike, swim, cuddle and play. His favorite thing in the world, just like Scooby, is food! He’ll do almost anything to get some! Peanut will do best with an experienced dog owner who is willing to continue the training he has been receiving with his foster mum. He is currently being fostered in Pennsylvania, waiting for his forever home, but can travel for the right home.

Sammi came to us with a big scar down his back, we don't know what it was caused by but it hasn't slowed him down for a second. He likes to explore and greet new people. He's an incredibly affectionate dog, he likes to be sitting next to you or have a paw somewhere on you. He has been doing a great job at building up his confidence out on walks, he is very inquisitive and likes to have a good sniff when he's out and about. He loves to play and is a very excitable boy but knows when it is time to wind down and relax in his crate. All he needs now is a home to call his own.

Liliana is a very amusing girl. She appreciates the company of another dog and is loving meeting new people, if you go into her pen with her she is the first pup coming up to greet you. When she first came in from her foster home she was a bit shy about going out on walks but now she can't wait to get out the door, it doesn't matter who is on the other end of the leash as long as they can keep up with her. She's quirky in all of the best ways and very smart, Liliana will never fail to make you laugh so if you're looking for a great companion Liliana may be the girl you need.

Gabriela is a cuddle bug, she loves hanging out in her pen with her sister and watching the world go by. She gets so excited about going out on her walks but as soon as she's out there she'll just glue herself to whoever she is with. She loves her treats and is so smart, she should pick up training very quickly. She's a little bit lower energy then her sister Liliana, she would very much like a home with a couch she can lay on. Gabriela is a very sweet girl, she's just waiting for the perfect family to call her own.

Dayzy found her way to us through the SNiP program, they spayed her mum and she came to us. She is a very gentle lump of love. From her first day in facility, even though she was a little shy, she wagged her tail at everyone. Now that she has settled in with us we get to see the fun side to her as well, she plays with the other dogs in her pen and loves her toys. She's not the most active pup we've ever had but she would love to cuddle up on the couch with you and get all of the belly rubs. She's really attentive to the people around her and is just waiting for someone to fall as in love with her as she is with them.

ABOUT:
Kiki and her brother were dropped off after being found by a restaurant downtown. Since the beginning she has been a wonderful pup. She is currently n facility during the day but going back to foster at night, she shares the house with with three adult dogs and another pup around her age. When she comes into facility we can send her out on walks with anyone, she does well with kids kids and we can put her in a pen with any dog and she is fine. Overall she is a docile pup but her foster mum says she can get into a fair amount of mischief when she wants. She is very inquisitive and incredibly smart and never fails to put a smile on all of our faces.

Amber and her siblings were found wandering through someone's yard in an area on island heavily populated with stray dogs. Amber is a slightly shy but very playful little lady. She is still working on getting more comfortable about going out on walks, she is good with people but nervous about loud sounds, however she does warm up and enjoy her time out. She loves to play and is a naturally inquisitive girl, she makes sure to provide a healthy dose of mischief to keep life interesting. You'll never be bored with Amber around.

Astra was found with her sister Amber and brother Arthur alone with no mum around. They were scooped up and brought into our care. Astra has a very sweet soul, she is more on the shy side both about meeting new people and going out on walks but, even if she isn't bounding up to say hello, she does greet you with a wag of her tail. It doesn't take long to win her over (especially if you have treats) and then she fully comes out of her shell. She loves her belly rubs and meal times and if you can give those to her then she'll be your best friend.

Grace came to us as the last of a litter of seven. She is a bundle of energy, she loves her toys, she loves her food and she absolutely loves attention. In facility she gets so excited to see you that she's always standing on her back legs letting you know that she is ready for pats. For as much bubbly confidence as she has in facility she is a bit nervous about going out on her walks, the sounds of the cars are scary for her so it does take a bit of patience and gentleness to keep her moving. Grace wears her heart on her sleeve, she never makes you guess what she is thinking. She's lovely puppy just waiting for a new family to see that as clearly as we do.

Lacy came to us as part of a litter of seven, all but her and her sister have been adopted out. She is a very gentle little lady, she can go out on walks with anyone of any age and have fun. Whilst she is not in your face demanding attention, she is eager to have it. She would be happy to sit by your feet at a coffee shop or trot along next to you on the beach. She does still have her moments of mischief, she loves her toys and can happily keep up with the other pups she hangs out with during the day when its time to play. Lacy has been going from strength to strength in facility but its time for this sweet girl to find her family.

We are dependent on donations to help rescue dogs from the street, give them the care they need and find forever homes. If you can, please make a donation today. We are always in need of volunteers to open up their homes to foster potcakes.
