Adopting a Potcake
Our puppy rescue center is always open and ready to process off-island and of course on-island, adoptions.
We always have pups available for adoption at our center, however, we cannot reserve a specific pup until an application has been approved. In fact at any one time there are about 40 puppies in foster homes across the island, all waiting for their forever families.
Each and every Potcake pup that we get through our doors is special to us, and every dog that we can place into a wonderful forever home is one less dying needlessly of neglect, abuse, disease or starvation or being euthanised.
The Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting a certain pup, or wish to be on our waiting list for the dog that is right for you, please fill out the adoption application form, email it to us and we will be in touch. We cannot reserve a particular puppy until an application has been received, reviewed and approved.
We carry out background checks and discuss living arrangements with all potential new parents so be ready for a few questions! Then we will discuss the departure process!

ABOUT:
Dalí was brough to us off of a junkyard with five brothers and sisters. He has a big scar across his chest and one on his elbow, we will never know exactly what happened but we do know he had a difficult time before coming into our care. Dalí's confidence with people has skyrocketed since being in our care, he actively seeks out their company and in situations where he may feel a little bit unsure he relies on the people he's built a bond with to feel secure. He is a bouncy, playful pup. He enjoys roughhousing with his siblings but knows when it is time to wind down. He can be a little bit shy on a first meeting but really appreciates having a buddy (whether that be a person or another pet). Dalí is ready to jump right into the next phase of his life with his new family.

Neville came to us off of a junkyard where we got a total of fourteen puppies. Initially, he was a really nervous pup but we've seen him blossom into quite the sociable little man. He loves to go out on his walks in the morning and meet people (he is still working on the walking portion of his walks though), we can send him out with anyone and he will have a good time. He isn't the most high energy puppy but he does love to have a good dig in the sand or roll around in some grass. He likes to go up and greet people and spends a lot of time with other dogs. He loves having the company of another dog or dogs but can be a little bit pushy at a first meeting just because he is always ready to play. He can settle down quickly though and loves cuddling up with another pup or person. This handsome boy is just waiting to land in his forever home.

Malteser came to us off a property where there were twenty puppies. He was the runt of his litter and really struggling so he was taken off the property and placed in a foster home where he was able to get healthy and learned to love people. He has really opened up since being in our care and we've gotten to see what a big personality he has wrapped up in a little package. Malteser has a constantly waggy tail and likes to be the center of attention. He's a bouncy, energetic pup who loves his toys. He is still building up confidence on actually walking when he goes out (but he will be more than happy to be cuddled and carried instead). He likes the company of other dogs, he'll jump in and start playing with them right away but also appreciates using them as a pillow when he gets tired. Malteser is as sweet as the candy he is named after, all he is looking for now is his new home.

Truffles came to us following recovery from parvo virus. Prior to coming into our care he hadn’t had much people interaction so was quite nervous but settled in quickly. The sounds of the traffic when he goes out can still be a little intimidating for him but with a bit of patience and some treats he can be persuaded to keep moving. In facility, where he is comfortable, he is a bouncy pup and he builds bonds with people very quickly. Once that happens he is a Velcro pup. He wants to be right by your legs. He spends his days with other dogs and appreciates having their company, he is crated by himself at night and settles down quite quickly but he definitely prefers company over alone time. He absolutely loves meal times, there is very little you couldn’t get this pup to do if there is a treat involved. Truffles is big in size and heart, he’s a beautiful boy very deserving of a lovely life.

Fudge came in with six brothers and sisters after having survived parvo virus. She has already proven herself to be a formidable little lady and now that she is back up to 100% health the loving, mischievous side to her personality has been allowed to shine. When she first came in she was a timid little pup, but very quickly got over her nerves with people. Now she loves to be the center of attention, she likes to be right where the action is when people are around and is starting to build up her confidence more when on her walks. She is still getting used to the sounds of traffic but is getting so much better about walking when she is out and about (although she very much still loves a cuddle). She enjoys having the company of another dog but she doesn’t hesitate to put her brothers in their place when they get a bit too rough with her. She can stand up for herself when she needs to. She loves her meal times but what Fudge wants most is companionship. This beautiful girl is is ready to settle in to her new home.

Duckie and his siblings came to us off of a junkyard. They were a very nervous bunch, Duckie was probably the most nervous of all. After a lot of TLC in an amazing foster home Duckie's personality began to really shine through. He is still a bit nervous with new people when the approach him and his siblings in his pen and he can become quite talkative when he's unsure. When he goes out on walks he transforms. He can go out with strangers and, despite being a bit unsure with loud noises, he loves to stroll around, get belly rubs in the grass and he occasionally enjoys a dip at the beach. He is still working on building confidence but he is incredibly smart and loves his treats so is quite a fast learner. Once he gets to know you he is an incredibly affectionate and playful dog. Duckie is just looking for a permanent cuddle buddy to make his life complete.

Fennel came in as the runt of his litter with two siblings (both of which are in the forever homes already). Fennel is a little unsure of the world, when strangers come into facility he likes to find a little corner to sit in and watch people as they go by. We haven't seen any reactivity with his nervousness, he just gets quiet. Similarly, when he goes out for walks he gets pretty spooked by loud sounds but once he gets to the beach he is transformed. He loves to splash around in the water and roll around in the sand. He sheds a lot of his timidness and his walkers get to see the fun, bouncy side to his personality that we get to see with him when no one else is around. He loves meal times and playing with other dogs and has some much affection to give. The best home for this beautiful boy would be a quieter household with another dog or dogs to show him the ropes and people who are ready to give him all of the love.

ABOUT:
Altai came in as part of a big litter of eight. He is a very smart, agile pup. He enjoys the company of people, so much so that he likes to jump out of his pen in the morning to go hang out by our feet. He is a very inquisitive pup and likes to check out whatever is going on. He can be a little bit stubborn out on his walks, if there is a bush he wants to sniff or a stick he wants to chew then he does everything he can to make that happen but takes corrections very well and you can keep him moving. He likes having a playmate and enjoys the company of another dog, he can get a bit rowdy when he plays but once he gets his energy out he settles down quite quickly. He has absolutely mastered the art of puppy dog eyes, all it takes is one glance for him to melt your heart. As he gets older he will definitely benefit from having some good structure just to keep him on track but this gorgeous man is more than ready to add some fun into a family's life.

Ararat came to us with his seven siblings. He's the smallest of the bunch with such a big, lovely personality. He's an intelligent and observant little man and super playful. He is good at entertaining himself as long as there are toys around (if not, he can make toys out of anything) or playing with other pups. Ararat likes to jump and roll around with the other pups, there is no such thing as personal space whether it be morning play time or afternoon nap time. He is a bit lower energy when he's out on his walks (although he does love to have zoomies in the grass), more than anything what he wants is to be cuddled up on someone's lap or playing with you. He is very food motivated and loves his treats. Ararat is ready and waiting to be snapped up.

ABOUT:
Cricket has been through a lot on her little life. She came to us as a single, scooped up by someone who found her in the middle of the road all by herself. She was quite ill when she first came into our care and her road to recovery took awhile but she had a great foster home who got her there. Now that whe is feeling better we get to see her personality. She is an incredibly smart, mischievous little lady who is always up for a game of fetch. She is very lively and loves digging holes. She meets other dogs very well and loves attention. As long as she has some toys she is very good at entertaining herself but would definitely like someone to cuddle with at the end of the night. Cricket is so deserving of an amazing next chapter, this little warrior is just waiting for someone else to see that.

Elsie came to us after someone discovered her and her four siblings left in a zipped up shopping bag outside of our facility. She has come a long way since then and is doing fantastically. She had some nervousness initially and she still is the quietest of her litter but she is also a very affectionate little lady. She won't push the other pups out of the way to come up and say hi or get a cuddle but she always wants to be involved, she is just happy to wait her turn. She is not the most high energy dog you will ever meet, she loves to play with the other dogs or people but then she is very content to lounge around and watch the world go by. She is a very food motivated and gets very excited at meal times. All the silly Ms Elsie needs now is a family to call her own.

ABOUT:
Ethel came in with four brothers and sisters, left in a bag outside of out door. She is definitely the go-getter of her litter. She is first on her back legs to greet somebody at her pen and she is curious about whatever is going on around her. She has a bubbly personality and is very friendly with everyone she meets. She has spurts of energy and loves digging holes on the beach but she isn't overly energetic, it doesn't take much to tire her out. She appreciates having company so she would like a good amount of cuddle time as well. She can be a strong willed at times and doesn't hesitate to let us know what she is thinking (she can be vocal about her dislike of bath time). Ethel is a bundle of joy just waiting to be in someone's home.

Emmie came in with four siblings after having been left outside our door. She has shown herself to be quite the happy-go-lucky puppy with a very inquisitive nature. Whilst she is quite a playful pup she is not the most overly energetic when she is out and about always wants to be at the center of whatever is going on with her person or people. She would happily lay out on the couch getting belly rubs or roll around in some grass. She loves getting cuddles and kisses and going up to say hi to people. She's a social little lady with other dogs and people. She loves her food and is very treat motivated. She's an excitable but gentle lady, she now just needs a home of her own.

Peaches came in with her brother after they were found in a government trap. She went into an excellent foster home where she went from a little unsure to star of the show. She is outgoing and very friendly. She doesn't have a problem going on on walks with anyone. Since her brother has found her way into her new home Peaches has been meeting a lot of new dogs, as well as having been with one in her foster home, and has done very well. She starts meeting them calmly and doing a good sniff and then her playful side jumps out, she's very playful and likes to get right in their personal space. She loves her meal times and toys. She's a smart lady and very loving, she just wants someone to spend time with and play with.

Madonna came in with her four siblings after they were found in a bush and brought to our door. Madonna is now the last of her litter as all of her siblings have found their homes. She came in as quite a nervous pup but she has really blossomed into a social butterfly. She still has some initial nerves around new things but settles down very quickly. She is very smart and inquisitive so she would really thrive with some good training to keep her mind active. She is easily encouraged by treats and cuddles and likes being with people but is can enjoy her independence as well. She is playing with other dogs all day but enjoys some quiet crate time to herself at night. She has the amazing ability to put a smile on your face no matter what kind of day you're having. All she needs now is a loving home.

ABOUT:
Lucy came to us as a single, she was found in the middle of the road with no other pups around. All it took was a day in her foster home for her to start opening up and as she has gotten older we have seen so much more of her amazing personality. She is super smart and very treat motivated so should be easy to train. She loves an adventure and would love to partake in any activity that her people are doing. She is on the more energetic side but can nap like a champion when that energy is burned off. Lucy is also content to hang with her humans, she'll lay at your feet or cuddle up on the couch with you. She has been fostered with older dogs and cats and has done very well with them and learning to respect their boundaries. Lucy is more than ready for her new home.
