Adopting a Potcake
Our puppy rescue center is always open and ready to process off-island and of course on-island, adoptions.
We always have pups available for adoption at our center, however, we cannot reserve a specific pup until an application has been approved. In fact at any one time there are about 40 puppies in foster homes across the island, all waiting for their forever families.
Each and every Potcake pup that we get through our doors is special to us, and every dog that we can place into a wonderful forever home is one less dying needlessly of neglect, abuse, disease or starvation or being euthanised.
The Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting a certain pup, or wish to be on our waiting list for the dog that is right for you, please fill out the adoption application form, email it to us and we will be in touch. We cannot reserve a particular puppy until an application has been received, reviewed and approved.
We carry out background checks and discuss living arrangements with all potential new parents so be ready for a few questions! Then we will discuss the departure process!

Squirt is the last of her litter still waiting for her furever home. She is an inquisitive and incredibly smart little lady. She is going to be on the smaller side for a potcake but even though she is small in stature she has a big personality, she’ll need some training just to keep her moving in the right direction but absolutely loves treats so will be easy to work with. She loves cuddle time but one of her favorite times of day is going out on her walks and searching for the perfect stick to chew on.

Qora came in as the most nervous pup of her litter and she still is quite shy and can be reactive initially when new people approach her. It takes her a bit of time to build her trust in you but once she does you get to see the funny, affectionate pup that she actually is. If you give her the time to build a bond with you it doesn't break. She loves to cuddle up on the couch and her exercise of choice is swimming! The hardest thing about her morning walks is getting her out of the ocean. She would thrive with a quieter household that has lot’s of dog experience. All this beautiful girl needs is loving people who will give her the time she needs to come out of her shell.

Bingo is a beautiful older lady, she came into our care after her owner sadly passed away at the beginning of the year. She has dealt with a lot of sudden changes recently and has been handling them with such grace. She has experience with cats and other dogs and she is good about meeting strangers. She has got a very gentle demeanor, she's not the most high energy dog but once she builds a relationship with you she will stick to you like glue. We want this incredible dog to live out her final years surrounded by all the love that a family can give.

Olaf came into us with his sister Ola; SNiP (the spay/neuter charity on island) went onto a property to pick up a female for a spay. They found two puppies stuck in a tiny cage and convinced the person to sign them over. Initially Olaf was nervous when coming into facility from his foster home but has really blossomed over the last few months. He builds a bond with people so quickly and once he's bonded with you all he wants is to shower you with love and receive it in return (along with some snacks, Olaf loves his treats). We have been able to put him with all different dogs and he's done well, he loves to play and can be quite an energetic little man. He never fails to put a smile on people's faces. He's ready and waiting for his forever home.

Liliana is a very amusing girl. She appreciates the company of another dog and loves to meet new people. When you walk up to her pen she immediately pops up on her back legs to sniff you and say hello. She's a very inquisitive girl and loves to have a good sniff around on her walks in the search for the best stick that she can carry all the way home. She has been in our care for 5 months now and we have had the privilege of watching her blossom from a shy little pup to the gorgeous, bouncy little lady she has become. She loves to eat and there isn't much in this world that she won't do for a treat so she will be easily trainable. She's quirky in all of the best ways and very smart, Liliana will never fail to make you laugh so if you're looking for a great companion Liliana may be exactly the girl you need.

Gabriela is a huge cuddle bug, she enjoys the company of her sister but really wants to get out of her pen, flop over on the floor and get belly rubs from whoever is around. She has a super sniffer and uses it to engage with the world head on during her walks, she's endlessly curious. Her favorite place to play is in the grass, after a few minutes of zooming around and chasing butterflies she'll be ready to crash down next to you for some very serious cuddle time. She loves her food and her treats. Gabriela is a great balance of high and low energy, there isn't an adventure she won't tackle if she's with her people. Gabriela is an incredibly sweet and incredibly loving girl, she's just waiting for the perfect family to call her own.

Bliss came to us off of a property with seventeen other pups. She loved people attention from the moment she was rescued and still loves it now. Bliss is a very strong willed pup, she's very smart but will need someone who can work with her to make her the best version of herself as she gets older. She can get a bit bossy with other dogs because she likes to be in charge but she will settle down with them after a little while. Like most potcakes, the quickest way to this beautiful girl's heart is through food. Bliss is a very affectionate pup, she likes to jump out of her pen to be right at your feet, she's just looking for someone who is ready to make her the center of their world.

Kiki is a wonderful pup with an old soul. She gets along with whichever dog we put her with, even the more rambunctious pups who like to climb all over her. She came to us as a docile little lady and has remained that way as she's gotten older, she still gets into a fair amount of puppy mischief, she likes to climb out of her pen in the morning and walk around to greet the other pups, but is happy to have sit down next to you and watch the world go by. We can send her out on walks with anyone without concern, the only requirements she has is that she is with people who will give her lots of pets. This beautiful girl is ready to slide right into your home and heart.

Amber and her siblings were found wandering through someone's yard in an area on island heavily populated with stray dogs. Amber is a slightly shy but very playful little lady. She is still working on getting more comfortable about going out on walks, she is good with people but nervous about loud sounds, however she does warm up and enjoy her time out. She loves to play and is a naturally inquisitive girl, she makes sure to provide a healthy dose of mischief to keep life interesting. You'll never be bored with Amber around.

Astra was found with her sister Amber and brother Arthur alone with no mum around. They were scooped up and brought into our care. Astra has a very sweet soul, she is more on the shy side both about meeting new people and going out on walks but, even if she isn't bounding up to say hello, she does greet you with a wag of her tail. It doesn't take long to win her over (especially if you have treats) and then she fully comes out of her shell. She loves her belly rubs and meal times and if you can give those to her then she'll be your best friend.

Grace came to us as the last of a litter of seven. She is a bundle of energy, she loves her toys, she loves her food and she absolutely loves attention. In facility she gets so excited to see you that she's always standing on her back legs letting you know that she is ready for pats. For as much bubbly confidence as she has in facility she is a bit nervous about going out on her walks, the sounds of the cars are scary for her so it does take a bit of patience and gentleness to keep her moving. Grace wears her heart on her sleeve, she never makes you guess what she is thinking. She's a lovely puppy just waiting for a new family to see that as clearly as we do.

Star came to us off of a property seventeen other puppies. She is a very gentle little lady, she loves to cuddle up to people and will be the happiest couch potato you've ever seen. Her two favorite things are meal times and climbing out of her pen to be right in between someone's feet. She get's along with other dogs, she's playful but not overbearing, she's just a very sweet pup. She can go out on walks with anyone and does well, everyone is taken with just how friendly she is. Star is looking for a forever family to give her all of the cuddles and then she'll be happy.

Chopper came to us with sixteen other pups from someone's yard. Immediately we got to see what a wonderful little personality he had and he's only gotten better since being in our care. He is the perfect combination of mischief, gentleness and playfulness. He can go out on walks with anyone and they all come very happy. He is a walker and a cuddle bug, he enjoys the company of other dogs but he can be fine on his own provided he has the companionship of some very lovely people. Chopper is ready to fit right into someone's home and onto someone's lap. It really doesn't take much to make this lovely boy happy.

Phoebe came to us as part of a very big litter. Initially she was once of the quieter ones, always content to let her siblings get in ahead of her whether it was for food or toys. As she's gotten more confident, she has shown us what a bubbly personality she really has. She still doesn't feel the need to argue with her siblings over things when she gets pushed out of the way but she is first up on her back legs whenever anyone walks past her pen to say hi and get some pets. She is a friendly, laid back pup with lots of love to give. She loves her toys, her treats and her walks but more than any of that she loves to be with people. This lovely girl is more than ready for a home of her own.

Joy was found on a property with sixteen other puppies. She was quite sick when she first came in but as she got healthier she really grew into her name, Joy, she is a very joyful little lady. She is excited to see new people when they come into facility, we can send her out on walks with anyone and as long as she gets lots of pets and play time whilst she's out she is happy. She is curious about the world and other dogs, she likes to play without being bossy and loves her snacks. Joy could slide into most homes very easily, she is just waiting for someone to see her and fall as in love as we all have.

Abeona came into our care at the same time as sixteen other puppies. She has got a fun, mischievous personality. She loves the attention of people and to snuggle up with them at every opportunity. Meal times are her favorite times of the day followed closely by toy time. She can go out with anyone on her walks and she's happy but she does enjoy lounging on the beach more than running down it. She loves to play with her sisters but does try to keep them line from time to time and show them who is boss. She's an incredibly smart pup and super affectionate, she is ready for her new home.

Luna came into our care with her two sisters, it didn't take her long to settle in and she has been bouncing off the walls ever since. She was in a foster home with an older dog and has done great with him and now that she is in facility full time we can put her in with any other pup and all she wants to do is play. She is confident and outgoing, she loves to be affectionate and jump all over you. When its time to wind down she loves to give and receive cuddles and kisses but when she's out on her walks she loves to explore, you just have to keep up with her. She's a playful bundle of energy, she'll bring a lot of laughter into the household of anyone who decides to adopt this beautiful girl.

Smores is one of three sisters. She is a good mix of energetic and calm. She likes to have the company of another dog or dogs and she doesn't seem to mind that she is often being used as a pillow by the other dogs in her pen. Smores loves to play or dig on the beach but is also a world-class napper. She's happy to meet anyone and we've seen her confidence skyrocket since first coming in. She's always up on her back legs to greet anyone standing by her pen. This lovely lady really is as sweet as her name suggests, all she is waiting for now is for someone to take her home.

Edith is one of three beautiful little girls that made their way into our care. She is the least boisterous of her sisters but is still full of life. She is lovable and very affectionate but won't push others out of the way to get her pets, she will patiently wait for you to come to her and then appreciate all of the snuggles. She does have that zesty puppy energy when she wants, she loves to dig and roll around in the sand but will then conk out and fall asleep very quickly once she gets back. She's gentle natured with people and other pups, she lets them jump all over her, sleep on her and chew on her ears without complaint. Edith has stolen the hearts of everyone in facility, now she is hoping to steal your heart as well.

Tommy came to us as part of a litter of seven. He's a rough and tumble little man, him and his brothers like to play hard with each other but they know when enough is enough. He hit the ground running when he came into facility from his foster home, he was curious about his new surroundings rather than nervous and that is what we've seen of him ever since. We are able to get him out on walks with kids and adults alike and they've all loved him. Meal times are Tommy's favorite times, he absolutely adores his food and is very treat motivated. Once he finally burns all of his energy off he likes to snuggle up with another pup and has a snooze. This gorgeous guy has a lot of love to give to whoever wants it.

We are dependent on donations to help rescue dogs from the street, give them the care they need and find forever homes. If you can, please make a donation today. We are always in need of volunteers to open up their homes to foster potcakes.
