Adopting a Potcake
Our puppy rescue center is always open and ready to process off-island and of course on-island, adoptions.
We always have pups available for adoption at our center, however, we cannot reserve a specific pup until an application has been approved. In fact at any one time there are about 40 puppies in foster homes across the island, all waiting for their forever families.
Each and every Potcake pup that we get through our doors is special to us, and every dog that we can place into a wonderful forever home is one less dying needlessly of neglect, abuse, disease or starvation or being euthanised.
The Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting a certain pup, or wish to be on our waiting list for the dog that is right for you, please fill out the adoption application form, email it to us and we will be in touch. We cannot reserve a particular puppy until an application has been received, reviewed and approved.
We carry out background checks and discuss living arrangements with all potential new parents so be ready for a few questions! Then we will discuss the departure process!

Alfie came into our care when he was only four weeks old. He really struggled for a bit once his brother went to his new home but has since settled into his routine in facility and his personality has blossomed. He does love the company of another dog but he can be a bit obnoxious when he plays, he likes to jump all over the other dog and be right up in their face so if he goes to a home with another pup it needs to be one who won't mind that. He's very similar with people, incredibly energetic and playful. He can get a little overstimulated with large groups, especially with young kids, so we don't send him out for walks with groups with young kids. His mind is as active as his body, he is incredibly smart but he needs someone who will work with that. Alfie is a big personality packaged in a little body, when he builds a relationship with you he pours every ounce of love he has into you and he just needs someone to do the same.

Ari came to us as a single pup. When he was found originally he was skinny and practically furless. He has come such a long way since then and has really grown into a beautiful little dog. He has plenty of personality; he is energetic, inquisitve and very playful. We can send him out for walks with anyone and he will thrive. He has confidence to spare so once he was fully vaccinated he became a foster brother to another one of our pups that came in as a single; she was so nervous of everything but Ari's boisterous self-assuredness encouraged her to start coming out of her shell and allow her to finally start relaxing a bit. The start to Ari's life hadn't been an easy one but never once has anything slowed him down now all he is waiting for is a family to start his next adventure with.

Peaches and her brother came to us through a spay/neuter clinic. Peaches has always been the leader amongst her siblings, she plays hard and never seems to run out of energy. She can go on walks with anyone and have a good time. She uses her walk time as a time to relax and hang out with people, she likes to get all of the cuddles and kisses. She's attentive to her surroundings and is always looking to see what is going on outside of the window. She loves her food, (meal times are when she gets most excited) and she will do just about anything for treats. She wants to be included in whatever is going on around her. Peaches is as boisterous as she is loving. She is ready to find a family who can give back that same love and fun to her.

Pickles and his sister were dropped off at a spay/neuter clinic and the clinic asked us to take them. Pickles is a gentle little man, he loves having a kiss and a cuddle. His sister Peaches likes to play a little rough sometimes but he can give as good as he gets so he can get a bit feisty at times however he tends to run out of energy quicker and loves his nap time. We can send him out on walks with anyone and they all come back so happy. He loves his food and his treats, he will eat whatever you put down in front of him (and whatever else he can find). Pickles is ready and waiting for a home of his very own.

Xena is one of the rare cases of a pup that came to us from a home rather than right out of the bushes. Unfortunately, the person who originally found Xena was no longer able to keep her and asked us to take her and find her a good home. Xena is a very sociable pup. She can be a little demanding when she wants to get your attention but settles down immediately when she's in your arms. She is okay being by herself, she is crated at night by herself and sleeps through the night, but would prefer to have company. She shares her pen during the day with three other pups and jumps all over them and rolls around with them. She always manages to have some energy left in the tank if it means she gets to play. Xena has a heart full of love that she is waiting to give to someone.

Pearl came to us when she was only two or three days old. Her mum was brought into the spay/neuter clinic and her owner refused to take Pearl back. Thankfully she landed on all four paws with excellent foster homes that got her from that very young, very fragile age to the amazing little lady she is now. She was fostered as a single so it took her a little while to get used to being with other dogs when she first came back into facility. She can be a bit nervous in new situations and when she gets too nervous she can have a bit of a grumble but we haven't seen her nip anyone. She loves time on the beach and is very comfortable with her foster family. She loves time at home with them. They describe her as very loving, friendly and has an amazing strength of personality. Pearl loves to play and find sticks on the beach to have a nice chew on. Pearl had a rough start to life but is now ready for someone amazing to carry her on to her next exciting chapter.

Nisha came to us as a part of a litter of seven when they were just three weeks old. She is the smallest of her litter but is proof that great things come in small packages. Nisha is a sweet, playful puppy. She likes saying hi to new people but can be a little shy on a first meeting. When she goes out on walks we can send her with anyone but she likes to start the outing by cuddling into someone to get acquainted before actually walking. She likes the company of other dogs whether it be to play or snuggle up and she manages to be right in the middle of whatever puppy chaos her siblings have started however she will forgo playing with her siblings to climb into someone's lap and cuddle with them instead. Nisha is now just waiting patiently for her forever home!

Ayra was brought into facility with her six brothers ad sisters through the spay/neuter program. She has been a lovely pup since the moment she came into our care. She is an incredibly affectionate pup that we can send out on walks with anyone. She is very motivated by people's attention. She likes to come up to the edge of her pen and say hi to people walking by. She loves a cuddle and to be held. She is as great at napping as she is at playing so once you tire her out she'll curl up and go right to sleep. Ayra has the best fluffy hairdo to match a wonderful personality. This stunning girl is just waiting to be snapped up.

Akira came to us when she was just three weeks old with her six siblings. She loves her siblings and appreciates the company of another dog (although she would be happy in a household without one provided she's with people who will give her lots and lots of love). She can be a bit cautious when in new areas or entering new situations but she still wants to explore everything and always does so with a waggy tail. She's a very submissive pup so when she's being asked to do something she's not sure of she'll just roll over and show us her speckled belly, she will love you even more if you use that as an opportunity to give her a belly rub (that's one of her favorite pass times). She's a pretty easy to please puppy, all she wants is to sit in someone's lap and play. Akira's bubbly personality and gorgeous face make her impossible not to fall in love with.

Smudge came to us as a single, unfortunately she was found in a bush without mum or other pups when she was very young. Smudge went into an amazing foster home where her confidence grew and her personality really started to shine. She is still working on her walking skills, she does prefer a cuddle and a carry at the moment. The world is pretty big place for her at the moment and she gets a bit nervous when she goes out, especially with the sounds of traffic, however she does enjoy finding a place to sit and watch people go by. She has recently started meeting other pups and that is going very well. Initially a little timid, that very quickly goes out the window and she starts to play and bark with the other pup. She is incredibly food motivated but can get a bit grumbly if she thinks you are going to try and interfere with her meal times. Her personality is still developing but what we've seen of it so far is very hard not to fall in love with. She is ready for someone to scoop her up and take her home.

Kirby came to us as a single, found on in his own in the middle of the road he was on death's door when he showed up. With round the clock care from amazing foster homes he managed to pull though ad he has been showing us his sparky personality ever since! He is an incredibly intelligent little man, at his foster home he will sit or lie on the floor to receive dinner and will wait until he is told to eat. With a little bit of effort we think he will pick up training quickly. He loves his crate and having a space that is entirely his but he will want to come out if there are people around. He enjoys having company whether that be with people or other dogs. He is fostered with an older dog who he loves to play with. He can be a bit too boisterous with other pups sometimes, he is still learning when enough is enough. Kirby is so full of life and is so deserving of finding his perfect match.

Ariel and her sister were found by the spay/neuter program on island and made their way to our door. Ariel is a gentle soul with big feelings. She is such a sweet pup but has a hard time being on her own and can be a little bit whiny when she first has to into her crate at night. She likes companionship, whether that be with a person or another dog and never wants to feel like she's missing out on the fun. She can make friends with anyone and loves to play with other dogs. She is curious about the world and a pretty laid-back pup. She is good at engaging with whoever walks through the door. Ariel is a very easy to please pup, in her mind there isn't a wrong that can't be righted with some lengthy cuddle time. Ariel is more than ready for her forever family.

Abby came to us after the spay/neuter program took a wrong turn and found two mums and two litters of pups. Abby is an outgoing, social butterfly. She actively seeks out people, she wants them to stroke her and she will do her best to clamber over and push her pen mates out of the way so she can get stroked first. As much as she loves attention she can be crated on her own at night without a fuss, she falls asleep pretty quickly once she's in there. She is an incredibly food motivated pup, once it goes down in front of her it is gone in a flash. We do separate her to eat for this reason plus she can get a bit grumbly with other pups if she thinks they're going to try and eat her food. Abby is a wonderful little lady looking for her new best friends.

Aaron and his siblings came to us after the island's spay/neuter team unexpectedly stumbled across them in some bushes. Aaron is just a dopey, gorgeous boy. He loves making new friends and is very good at it. He always greets everyone with a waggy tail and a kiss. We can send him out on walks with anyone and he is happy. He is a very laid back pup (definitely not the most high energy pup we've ever had) so on his walks he does like to be carried. Aaron loves to eat, he will happily eat whenever food is put in front of him and then when he is done he will try and eat whatever is still in his brother's bowl as well. Aaron is just a big puddle of love and this sweet boy is ready and waiting to go to his forever home.

Nell came in with five brothers and sisters. Whilst we don't know exactly what she went through Nell has a big scar on her back paw and one of her brothers came in missing an ear so we know she had a difficult start to life. Since coming in we have seen this shy, scared pup really start to come out of her shell and become more and more eager to engage with people. She is a bit of a homebody, we can send her out on walks with anyone and they do end up carrying her most of the way until she knows she's on her way home, then she will happily lead the way back. The outside world is still a bit nerve-wracking for her but if you get her to a quiet place all she wants is to curl up with you and watch the world go by. Once she builds up that trust with you her true colors start to shine and then she shows herself to be such a goofball. Nell is an extraordinary little lady, all she needs is an understanding family to fall in love with her.

Banksy came to us off of a junkyard with his five siblings. We don't believe they had much, if any, people experience before coming to us as they were so scared. However, with the help of an amazing foster home, Banksy has settled in very well and is ready for whatever is next. He has become so much more curious about the world and people. We can send him out on walks with anyone and he is great with them, very sweet, but can still get overwhelmed by the sounds of traffic. He is still building up his confidence about leaving home but he relaxes in and trusts the people he's with even if he isn't too keen on walking. He loves the company of other dogs and always appreciates having a buddy (both human and dog). Once he's settled in he loves to roll around and play. Banksy is a true little gentleman, he's just searching for his forever home.
