Adopting a Potcake
Our puppy rescue center is always open and ready to process off-island and of course on-island, adoptions.
We always have pups available for adoption at our center, however, we cannot reserve a specific pup until an application has been approved. In fact at any one time there are about 40 puppies in foster homes across the island, all waiting for their forever families.
Each and every Potcake pup that we get through our doors is special to us, and every dog that we can place into a wonderful forever home is one less dying needlessly of neglect, abuse, disease or starvation or being euthanised.
The Adoption Process
If you are interested in adopting a certain pup, or wish to be on our waiting list for the dog that is right for you, please fill out the adoption application form, email it to us and we will be in touch. We cannot reserve a particular puppy until an application has been received, reviewed and approved.
We carry out background checks and discuss living arrangements with all potential new parents so be ready for a few questions! Then we will discuss the departure process!

Alfie came into our care when he was only four weeks old. He really struggled for a bit once his brother went to his new home but has since settled into his routine in facility and his personality has blossomed. He does love the company of another dog; he is quite boisterous when he plays, he likes to jump all over the other dog and be right up in their space. He's very similar with people, incredibly energetic, playful and extremely loving. He can get a little overstimulated with large groups, especially with young kids, so we don't send him out for walks with groups with children. His mind is as active as his body, he is incredibly smart but he needs someone who will work with that. When Alfie builds a relationship with you he pours every ounce of love he has into you and he just needs someone to do the same.

Ari came to us as a single pup. When he was found originally he was skinny and practically furless. He has come such a long way since then and has really grown into a beautiful little dog. He has plenty of personality; he is energetic, inquisitve and very playful. We can send him out for walks with anyone and he will thrive. He has confidence to spare so once he was fully vaccinated he became a foster brother to another one of our pups that came in as a single; she was so nervous of everything but Ari's boisterous self-assuredness encouraged her to start coming out of her shell and allow her to finally start relaxing a bit. The start to Ari's life hadn't been an easy one but never once has anything slowed him down now all he is waiting for is a family to start his next adventure with.

Nisha came to us as a part of a litter of seven when they were just three weeks old. She is the smallest of her litter but is proof that great things come in small packages. Nisha is a sweet, playful puppy. She likes saying hi to new people and is always up on her back legs at her pen to make sure whoever walks through the door gives her a head scratch. We can send her out on walks with anyone and she's happy to go but is quite the homebody so is even happier to come back. She likes the company of other dogs whether it be to play or snuggle up and she manages to be right in the middle of whatever puppy chaos her siblings have started however she will forgo playing with her siblings to climb into someone's lap and cuddle with them instead. Nisha is such a funny pup with a lovely, gentle nature; she is just waiting patiently for her forever home!

Neville came to us off of a junkyard where we got a total of fourteen puppies. Initially, he was a really nervous pup but we've seen him blossom into quite the sociable little man. He loves to go out on his walks in the morning and meet people (he is still working on the walking portion of his walks though), we can send him out with anyone and he will have a good time. He isn't the most high energy puppy but he does love to have a good dig in the sand or roll around in some grass. He likes to go up and greet people and spends a lot of time with other dogs. He loves having the company of another dog or dogs but can be a little bit pushy at a first meeting just because he is always ready to play. He can settle down quickly though and loves cuddling up with another pup or person. This handsome boy is just waiting to land in his forever home.

MALTESER

Malteser came to us off a property where there were twenty puppies. He was the runt of his litter and really struggling so he was taken off the property and placed in a foster home where he was able to get healthy and learned to love people. He has really opened up since being in our care and we've gotten to see what a big personality he has wrapped up in a little package. Malteser has a constantly waggy tail and likes to be the center of attention. He's a bouncy, energetic pup who loves his toys. He is still building up confidence on actually walking when he goes out (but he will be more than happy to be cuddled and carried instead). He likes the company of other dogs, he'll jump in and start playing with them right away but also appreciates using them as a pillow when he gets tired. Malteser is as sweet as the candy he is named after, all he is looking for now is his new home.

AGE: 6 months

ABOUT:
Pearl came to us when she was only two or three days old. Her mum was brought into the spay/neuter clinic and her owner refused to take Pearl back. Thankfully she landed on all four paws with excellent foster homes that got her from that very young, very fragile age to the amazing little lady she is now. She was fostered as a single so it took her a little while to get used to being with other dogs when she first came back into facility but now loves the company of another pup. She can be a bit nervous in new situations but has come on leaps and bounds since coming into facility and meeting new people. She loves to meet new people and spend time at home. Her foster home describe her as very loving and friendly that has an amazing strength of personality. Pearl loves to play and find sticks on the beach to have a nice chew on. Pearl had a rough start to life but is now ready for someone amazing to carry her on to her next exciting chapter.

Dalí was brough to us off of a junkyard with five brothers and sisters. He has a big scar across his chest and one on his elbow, we will never know exactly what happened but we do know he had a difficult time before coming into our care. Dalí's confidence with people has skyrocketed since being in out care, he actively seeks out their company and in situations where he may feel a little bit unsure he relies on the people he's built a bond with to feel secure. He is a bouncy, playful pup. He enjoys roughhousing with his siblings but knows when it is time to wind down. He can be a little bit shy on a first meeting but really appreciates having a buddy (whether that be a person or another pet). Dalí is ready to jump right into the next phase of his life with his new family.

Nell came in with five brothers and sisters. Whilst we don't know exactly what she went through Nell has a big scar on her back paw and one of her brothers came in missing an ear so we know she had a difficult start to life. Since coming in we have seen this shy, scared pup really start to come out of her shell and now she is a total cuddle bug. She still gets a bit nervous about leaving home, the sounds of the cars stress her out but if you find a place to sit with her she'll just settle right in to your lap. Once a bond is built she will follow you anywhere. Now that her true colors are shining through we've got to see how much of a goofball she really is. Nell is an extraordinary little lady, all this deserving girl needs is a family of her very own.

Tommy (AKA Tommy Shelby) was caught by mistake when he wandered into a trap during a spay/neuter clinic. He was in terrible shape, starving, with very little fur. He went straight into foster care but he was very sick and timid as he had had very little human interaction. As his health started to improve, and he gained some weight, his confidence started to grow also. His cheeky personality started to shine through in no time. He's very smart, and easily trainable. He knows that barking gets him nowhere, and so will sit quietly when food is around. He knows simple commands, 'sit, paw, lie down' he's easily moticated with treats! He walks well on leash, enjoys going for a swim, and loves long walks. He will ask to go outside for a pee and poop, and only has the very occasional accident inside. He loves balls and sticks, he can entertain himself for hours. This beautiful boy is more than ready for his forever home now.

Crunch came to us after a particularly challenging start to life, born onto a property with nineteen other puppies. Unfortunately him and his siblings tested positive for parvo virus, Crunch is one of a few amazing survivors and once he was feeling better we got to see what a gorgeous, dopey boy he really is. Initially he was a bit timid meeting new people however he got over that very quickly and now he is very sociable. He also enjoys the company of other dogs, he really appreciates having a buddy (whether that be a person, another dog or both)! He is crated by himself at night and after a few minutes settles down just fine but is always excited to get out of his crate in the morning and start the day. He likes going out on walks and can go out with anyone. He gets a bit nervous of loud sounds on the street but a little bit of encouragement and coaxing with some treats gets him moving again. Snacks are the quickest way to Crunch's heart. This gentle giant is as sweet as the candy bar he was named after, all he needs now is an equally amazing home to snap him up.

Fudge came in with six brothers and sisters after having survived parvo virus. She has already proven herself to be a formidable little lady and now that she is back up to 100% health the loving, mischievous side to her personality has been allowed to shine. When she first came in she was a timid little pup, but very quickly got over her nerves with people. Now she loves to be the center of attention, she likes to be right where the action is when people are around and is starting to build up her confidence more when on her walks. She is still getting used to the sounds of traffic but is getting so much better about walking when she is out and about (although she very much still loves a cuddle). She enjoys having the compompany of another dog but she doesn’t hesitate to put her brothers in their place when they get a bit too rough with her. She can stand up for herself when she needs to. She loves her meal times but what Fudge wants most is companionship. This beautiful girl is is ready to settle in to her new home.

Ripple came to us off of a property where twenty puppies were born. After a difficult start to life him and six siblings came into our care. They were a bit of a rough and tumble bunch to begin with but since coming to us Ripple’s gentle nature has shone through. Don’t let his size fool you, Ripple really is just a big baby at heart. He came in as quite a nervous little man, he let go of his nerves with people very quickly and once he gets to know you he is quite a lively pup. He likes to get right up in your space, jump on you or curl up in your lap. He is still nervous about going out, we have noticed that having another dog around helps with his nerves and makes the world a bit less scary. He loves to play with his siblings but when they start to get too rowdy he prefers to remove himself and leave them to their chaos. This sweet natured gentleman can't wait to find the perfect home with the perfect couch for him to lounge on.

TRUFFLES
TRUFFLES
AGE: 6 months

Truffles came to us following recovery from parvo virus. Prior to coming into our care he hadn’t had much people interaction so was quite nervous but settled in quickly. The sounds of the traffic when he goes out can still be a little intimidating for him but with a bit of patience and some treats he can be persuaded to keep moving. In facility, where he is comfortable, he is a bouncy pup and he builds bonds with people very quickly. Once that happens he is a Velcro pup. He wants to be right by your legs. He spends his days with other dogs and appreciates having their company, he is crated by himself at night and settles down quite quickly but he definitely prefers company over alone time. He absolutely loves meal times, there is very little you couldn’t get this pup to do if there is a treat involved. Truffles is big in size and heart, he’s a beautiful boy very deserving of a lovely life.

ABOUT:
Coco came to us with six siblings after surviving parvo virus. She is a spunky little lady, one of the smallest of her litter Coco definitely doesn’t let her bigger brothers and sisters push her around. She loves the company of other dogs because she loves to play. She is a very wiggly little pup, when she gets excited she doesn’t just wag her tail but her whole body. She can get a little nervous when going out on walks by herself (the sounds of the traffic can stress her out a bit) but has really improved to the point now where we will sometimes send her out with a more nervous pup so she can help put them at ease. She loves the beach and digging holes in the sand. She naps as hard as she plays so once she gets her energy out she is happy just to lounge. Coco is a spirited pup and she is ready to go home with someone who is looking for fun.
